Introduction
Welcome to ScrollStamp! We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy details how ScrollStamp ("we", "our", or "the extension") handles user data. ScrollStamp is a productivity tool that enables users to bookmark and instantly jump back to exact scroll positions of prompts, responses, or text on AI chat platforms (including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek, and Perplexity) and regular webpages.
Information We Collect
ScrollStamp does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on external servers. All operations are strictly local to your device.
- No User Accounts: You do not need to create an account or sign in to use ScrollStamp.
- No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location data, or payment information.
- No Passwords or Sensitive Data: We do not collect, read, or process passwords, payment methods, or sensitive personal data.
- No Browsing History: The extension does not track or store your general web browsing history.
- Local Selected Text: To identify the exact scroll location of a bookmark, ScrollStamp reads small fragments of webpage text surrounding your selected element. This text is processed exclusively on your local machine to calculate the DOM position.
How Information Is Used
Any data captured by the extension—specifically your saved scroll positions, bookmark labels, and page anchors—is used solely to facilitate the bookmarking functionality. This data is handled in the following manner:
- To calculate the precise location on the page to scroll back to when you click a saved bookmark.
- To display your saved bookmarks in the extension's popup interface.
- No text fragments, bookmark details, or page content are ever sent to external servers or remote locations.
Data Storage
All ScrollStamp bookmarks and extension preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage APIs (chrome.storage.local or chrome.storage.sync). This ensures that:
- Your configuration settings and bookmarks remain on your system.
- No external databases, servers, or cloud storage platforms are used.
- If you uninstall the extension, all locally stored bookmarks and preferences are permanently deleted from your browser automatically.
Permissions Used
ScrollStamp requests only the minimal set of browser permissions necessary to perform its core functions. Here is how each permission is used:
These permissions are requested strictly to provide the extension's core bookmarking functionality.
Third-Party Services
We do not integrate any third-party services, analytics APIs, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs. Your usage of ScrollStamp is entirely private and unmonitored.
Data Sharing
Because we do not collect or store your data, it is impossible for us to share, sell, distribute, or rent your data to third parties, advertising companies, or any other entities.
Security
We prioritize the security of your browsing environment. ScrollStamp adheres strictly to Chrome Web Store security guidelines:
- The extension does not run, load, or execute any remotely hosted code.
- All extension code executes completely within your local browser sandbox.
- By leveraging standard browser APIs, the extension prevents unauthorized data exfiltration.
Children's Privacy
ScrollStamp does not collect any personal data or transmit information from its users. Consequently, the extension is fully compliant with children's privacy regulations, including COPPA, and is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to align with changes in browser guidelines or extension features. Any updates will be published directly on this page, and the "Effective Date" at the top will be updated accordingly.
